Dominic Power is a Consultant Hand and Peripheral Nerve Surgeon in Birmingham at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine (RCDM), part of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. He established a regional centre for PNI and Brachial Plexus Injuries and worked alongside Professor Rolfe Birch in the War Nerve Injuries Clinic, Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre (DMRC) Headley Court. He led local development of conflict associated PNI repair and reconstruction capability at the RCDM and the lessons learned from treating UK and coalition combat-injured personnel has translated benefits for the civilian population sustaining complex trauma. He has introduced innovative solutions for the management of nerve gaps, paralysis and neuropathic pain and clinical innovation is evaluated through a large portfolio of academic and commercial trials that are delivered through the HaPPeN Research group and the UK peripheral nerve CRN.
